Richard and Heather Brink, food snobs turned farmers
❤️Our Story
From food snobs to farmers, this is the story of how we discovered just how dang good meat fresh from the farm is and how we set out to bring it to our fellow Texans and beyond!
Richard and Heather Brink, the owners of Dos Lobos Ranch with our Dexter cattle herd in the background and our 3 working Australian Shepherd ranch hands.
❤️Our Team Members
It's just us most of the time with the help from the Aussie Posse!
Heather is the owner and runs daily operations while Richard funds Heather's ranch habit. Heather is a Biologist and graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2009.
After spending a career in the manufacturing world as an Environmental Engineer and Safety Manager, the call to start the farm became stronger every year.
When job situations changed and the opportunity arose to move back home to North Texas, Heather abandoned the Safety Manager career and started the farm.
Richard is an NC Programming Engineer and Training Manager turned farmer. He graduated from Tarleton State University in 2005 and never knew he needed (or wanted) a farm until we started Dos Lobos Ranch in 2023.
What he believed was Heather's calling and not his didn't seem to fit for him and he was just along for the ride. But after about 6 months, he was hooked.
Richard has fallen in love with the land, the animals, and the product we produce and was evangelized by the mission we are fulfilling to bring healthy meat options to the dinner table across North Texas and nation wide.
Whiskey was a rescued Australian Shepherd that we got when we lived in Florida. Upon moving back to Texas, we put him to work, and he showed us what just a rescued show-bred Aussie could do! He tries very hard (sometimes too hard), but when we need someone in a pinch to help us move livestock, Whiskey doesn't hesitate to jump in and help!
This young girl comes from well-known working Australian Shepherd breeder Boyd Ranch. This Cowpuncher x Catty pup started showing us just what she could do when she was only 3 months old when we let her practice on baby goats.
She's not afraid of grabbing a billy goat by the balls (literally) and telling 'em who is the real boss!
She has really bloomed into one heck of a dog who learns fast and doesn't falter on her job whether it's holding cows off of hay bales while we move them, getting hogs off the gate so we can feed them, or herding chickens during pasture moves, this girl knows every facet of the job and has learned to do it flawlessly every time!
Kazi is also a well-bred working Australian Shepherd pup from Boyd Ranch out of Cowpuncher x Catty. She is a lot softer with livestock than her sister, but she still had the tenacity to earn the title of "Hog's Bane" when she showed us how she handles wayward pigs!
Though not as focused as her sister, Shiney, Kazi does best when there's another dog to work with, or if there's a thrill to get an adrenaline hit from. She's not into boring, mundane work, or smaller animals such as goats. If she's going to work, she wants to work the big stuff like the cows and the hogs!
Aloof, but still biddable, she is a valuable team member, especially when livestock breaks away from the group. She's on it!
Sadie was a rescue Great Pyrenees/Akbash mix that we got early on after we bought the ranch. She's a chicken eater (bad girl!) but drives the coyotes away at night. As she's aged, she no longer has the speed she used to and can't catch a chicken to save her life!
Baller is our newest addition to the Aussie Posse. He comes from a long line of working Australian Shepherds from Cut'n Loose Stockdogs. We're eager to watch him grow and fit into his role as a ranch hand!
🌾Pasture Raised and Grass Grazed… from one meat snob to another!
At Dos Lobos Ranch, we love to cook for ourselves and our friends. We absolutely covet premium, top quality meat (and are self-described meat-snobs to boot), and love wow-ing our friends at dinner, so only the best prime steaks would do for us!
But we didn't think it was possible to find prime chicken -- it just didn't exist and so we didn't look for it... until we saw the food movement and people talking about the difference pastured chicken makes. And let me tell you… after trying our own products ourselves, we will never go back to grocery store meat, even from the top premium grocers!

🤩Folks, we were missing something all of our lives...
... and maybe you have been, too; this meat is REAL. The proper processes of raising animals, feeding them nutrient dense diets, good husbandry, and humane slaughter make every ounce of difference in the end product and we make dang sure our animals are happy, healthy, and comfortable.
Clean process + clean feed + clean animals = clean meat... and it comes out in the flavor and texture, every time! That's why we tried it ourselves first and couldn't believe the results from the first batch of chicken we raised. We were officially hooked, and had to get it into the hands of our fellow Texans!

🐷Kunekune Pork, a Perfect Pig Adapted for Pasture Grazing with Succulent Meat
We raise heritage breed, AKKPS registered Kunekune (pronounced Koon-ee Koon-ee) hogs on pasture and feed them corn and soy-free feed. They take 12-14 months to reach processing weight, but it is well worth the wait!
The meat of kunekune hogs has a slightly sweet flavor and is full of micro-marbling. Don't add any extra oil to the pan when cooking kunekune pork... you won't need it! Our favorite way to season kunekune is with just plain old salt and pepper... you don't need anything else! It has a wonderful flavor that's good by itself!
Our pork is truly the crown jewel of what we offer. You can't find restaurant quality pork this juicy and tender anywhere else! If you really need to wow some dinner guests... grab some of our pork!
🐮Grass-fed and Grass-Finished Irish Dexter Beef
We raise ADCA registered Irish Dexter beef cattle that are truly grass-fed, grass-finished, gourmet beef (Chef Ramsey himself uses Dexter beef in his restaurants!)
We genetically tested our breeding herd of Dexters for tenderness using the Igenity Leptin/Tenderness test. Our entire herd scored 6's and 7's on a scale of 1-10 with Igenity. In the spring of 2025, we co-purchased a bull with some friends of ours that scored a 9 on his Igenity testing. So now, breeding him to any of our females will always give us animals that score a 6 or better on their genetic test, solidifying our quality control for tenderness!
If you've ever been to a top-end, fine dining establishment such as Ruth's Chris Steakhouse or Texas de Brazil, our filet mignon is better! Dexters take about 2 years to reach a good butcher weight and nice marbling, but the finished product puts all other beef to shame!
🥚Pasture Raised Chicken and Duck Eggs
We also pasture raise chicken and duck eggs. Our egg-laying flock is rotated behind electric netting in tandem with our pastured pigs in front, and the cows in front of them.
They get to eat as much green grass and as many insects as they can! The yolks are naturally more orange-colored without any added coloring agents into their corn-free and soy-free feed and taste amazing!
🦃Pasture-Raised Heritage Breed Turkey
We breed and raise small batches of heritage breed Artisan Black turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas by reservation only starting in July. They are fed a corn and soy-free diet and they are the fool-proof turkey for the holidays! You can't overcook these!
🎀Wrapping up...

Feel free to reach out to us and we will work with you to fulfill your needs! We are active on social media (with lots of adorable animal videos!) and would love for you to join us as two rebels go against the grain and set off to raise meat the right way: on pasture, moved daily, with fresh air, and sunshine!
