Cuban Ham & Bean Soup

This is a recipe that brings us back to our days in Florida! Only now, it's been upgraded with our Kunekune ham!

Ingredients
- (1 - 14 oz. can) White Navy Beans
- (2 lbs.) Kunekune Pork Smoked and Cured Ham Steaks | Pasture-Raised, Corn-Free, Soy-Free, Non-GMO | Heritage Breed
- (1 medium) Onion
- (2 large, diced) Carrot
- (3-4, minced) Garlic Gloves
- (1/2 teaspoon) Cumin
- (1 teaspoon) Dried Oregano
- (1/2 teaspoon) Salt
- (6 cups) Chicken Broth (Quart) | Small Batch, Pasture-Raised, Corn-Free, Soy-Free, Non-GMO | Farm Fresh
- (8 cups) Water
- (1 large, peeled, cut into 1 inch pieces) Potato
- (1) Bay Leaf
- (6 leaves, stalks removed, chopped) Swiss Chard
Directions
Prep: Dice onions, carrots. Peel and chop potato. Rinse chard well, de-stem, chop leaves. Chop ham steaks into bite-sized pieces. Mince garlic.
Add chicken broth, water, veggies, canned beans, and ham to pot. Season with oregano, cumin. Salt & pepper to taste. Bring to a boil and simmer on medium-high heat for 30 minutes. Add chard the last 5 minutes. Add additional time if potatoes aren't fork-tender.
Spoon into bowls, and serve.
